EMIS Project for Republic of Suriname
EMIS Project for Republic of Suriname
SWITAZ LLC conducted a presentation on the Education Management Information System (EMIS), led by Bahram Atabayli (Founder of SWITAZ LLC), from June 23-26 2024. This event was organized in cooperation with the Suriname Ministry of Education and with financial support from the Islamic Development Bank. The training focused on effective use of the EMIS and its impact on the development of the education system.
Being a pioneer in Azerbaijan, SWITAZ LLC has once again set a precedent by developing an EMIS training program for Suriname.
What is EMIS and why is it used?
What is EMIS?
EMIS is an Education Management Information System. It's a software platform designed to collect relevant educational data for all schools in Suriname. The system generates reports from the collected data and allows the Ministry of Education, Science, and Culture to provide accurate reports to international organizations and regulate educational policy in accordance with the country's school system needs. Additionally, EMIS facilitates direct cooperation and management and monitoring of information between various departments of the Ministry and schools under their jurisdiction through an online platform.
Purposes of using EMIS:
Registration and Demographic Tracking: EMIS collects data on student enrollment, age, gender, and other demographic factors, allowing authorities to plan the allocation of potential resources.
Analysis of Academic Performance: EMIS tracks student academic performance, dropout rates, and attendance rates, helping to identify areas for improvement and targeted interventions.
Management of Teachers and Staff: EMIS facilitates the tracking and management of teachers' qualifications, assignments, and professional development needs.
Why EMIS?
EMIS plays a crucial role in improving education systems worldwide by providing reliable, comparable data for evidence-based decision-making. Successful EMIS implementation is based on standardization, capacity building, technology integration, ensuring data quality, and stakeholder engagement.
EMIS helps educational institutions and policymakers make informed decisions, track progress, allocate resources, and implement evidence-based policies to improve education systems.
Currently, it is planned to conduct the EMIS training program in other countries as well.
Summary of the Project
SWITAZ LLC has successfully implemented an EMIS system in Suriname. This system is a valuable tool for collecting, analyzing, and reporting on educational data, enabling the country to make data-driven decisions to improve its education system. The training program has been well-received and there are plans to expand it to other countries.
This project has been realized in collaboration with Common Sense Company.
